Abū Bakr Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī ibn Thābit ibn Aḥmad ibn Māhdī al-Shāfiʿī (392–463 AH)

A renowned hadith scholar and historian from Baghdad, best known for his monumental work Tarikh Baghdad, an encyclopedic collection of biographies of scholars from the city. He was a master of hadith, history, and Shafiʿi jurisprudence, and is regarded as one of the most influential hadith compilers in Islamic tradition.
