Ismāʿīl ibn Yaḥyā ibn Ismāʿīl al-Muzanī (175–264 AH)

A prominent Egyptian jurist and close disciple of Imām al-Shāfiʿī, known for preserving and systematizing his teacher’s legal views. He authored al-Mukhtaṣar, a foundational manual in Shāfiʿī jurisprudence. Al-Muzanī played a key role in spreading the Shāfiʿī school and was respected for his sharp intellect and deep legal insight.
