ʿImād al-Dīn Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUmar ibn Kathīr al-Qurashī al-Dimashqī (701–774 AH)

A prominent Shafi’i scholar and historian, best known for his tafsir Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr and his historical work al-Bidāyah wa al-Nihāyah. He was a student of Ibn Taymiyyah and contributed significantly to Islamic exegesis and history.
