Beskrivning

Fasting is one of the pillars of Islam and a profound act of worship that draws the believer closer to Allah. To truly benefit from this practice, one must understand its evidences, rulings, etiquettes, and inner dimensions.

This book brings together a rich variety of classical Islamic literature on fasting, presenting diverse perspectives from within the Islamic scholarly tradition. It is divided into three sections:

  • Section One features chapters on fasting and devotional seclusion (iʿtikāf) from Al-Muntaqā by Majd al-Dīn Ibn Taymiyya – a renowned compilation of legal hadiths.

  • Section Two offers the same chapters from Al-Muqniʿ by Al-Muwaffaq Ibn Qudāma – a foundational text in Ḥanbalī jurisprudence.

  • Section Three presents spiritual insights and the inner secrets of fasting from Mukhtaṣar Minhāj al-Qāṣidīn by Najm al-Dīn Ibn Qudāma – a work in the genre of tarbiyya (spiritual refinement).

This bilingual edition provides an English translation alongside the original Arabic text, making it ideal for students and readers seeking to improve their Arabic vocabulary, reading fluency, and translation skills.
