Having Good Thoughts of Allah

Allāh, the Most High, Said: “If My slaves ask you about Me, I am near. I answer the call of the caller when he calls on Me. They should therefore respond to Me and believe in Me so that hopefully they will be rightly guided.” [al-Baqrarah (2):186]

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said: “Allāh, the Exalted, says: ‘I am as My servant thinks of Me.’” Al-Bukhārī , #7405 and Muslim, #2675.

Before you are two texts that we have placed into one book by Al-Hāfiẓ Abū Bakr Ibn Abī Dunyā: ‘Having Good Thoughts of Allāh’ and ‘Having True Reliance on Allāh’. These two great acts of worship of the heart are interlinked with each other, and the author covers them quite comprehensively – which every sincere believer must cultivate in their hearts.

Know that Allāh loves the believers, He wants goodness for them, but the believers must place true reliance on Him alone and think positively of Him at all times.
