Allah, the Most High, said:
“And among His Signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves so that you may find tranquillity in them. And He has placed between you love and mercy. Verily, in that are signs for people who reflect.”
(Surah Ar-Rum, 30:21)

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“When a person gets married, he has completed half of his religion; so let him fear Allah regarding the other half.”
(Al-Bayhaqi, Shu‘ab al-Iman; graded Hasan li ghayrihi by Al-Albani in Sahih al-Targhib wa’l-Tarhib, no. 1916)

Marriage holds a central place in Islam. Humanity was created as social beings, dependent on one another for survival, harmony, and companionship. Men and women were created to complement each other through love and mercy.

The family, as the foundation of society, is the cornerstone of a healthy community. Thus, marriage was the way of all the prophets and messengers, and it was the practice of our noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions — may Allah be pleased with them all.

This concise yet important work addresses many aspects of marital life that every Muslim should be familiar with. The Shaykh — may Allah have mercy on him — has carefully compiled it from the Qur’an and authentic hadiths of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. It serves as a valuable guide for those intending to marry as well as for those already married.

Familiarizing oneself with these teachings is essential for every Muslim who wishes to live according to the Islamic manners and etiquettes of marriage. Truly, this is a text that no Muslim home or library should be without.
